Paul is a member of the Katikati College Basketball Team, which was looking for a better way to inform the public about itself and its progress in the local competition.
After investigating several options with stakeholders –players and their families, the coach, and supporters – Paul decided that a team website would be the best way to do this. After doing extensive research and in consultation with these stakeholders, Paul developed a detailed brief for the website which covered its content, layout, and style.
Paul designed his website to resemble a basketball court, using Flash to create an animated rotating basketball that appears on each of the site's six pages.
The site content comprises a homepage and the following:- A team page that describesthe basketball team and has information about the players.
- A record page that contains the score-sheet of the entire season game by game and the team's win/loss ratio.
- Ahead-to-head page that shows the team's record against each of its opposition teams.
- An affiliates page with links to related sites – from the local Western Bay Basketball site and the Basketball New Zealand site the international FIBA site
- A page about basketball and the game in New Zealand.
Teacher's Comment:
In developing the site, Paul followed the codes of practice and ethics of a professional web designer, and was required to separate the content coding of the site from its style instructions using XHTML and CSS, which he did by following good technological practice. The final website is well designed with an eye-catching layout.
