Frances Jenkins - Outfit for client with prosthesis

In 2009 Frances Jenkins was awarded a New Zealand Scholarship in Technology for her project designing an outfit for her client who wears a prothesis.

The project focussed on the development of an outfit for her client to wear on an overseas trip. The complexities of the situation were explained, including such things as issues around amputation and having a prothesis.

Stories of Creativity

In collaboration with the World of WearableArt™ and its upcoming touring exhibition, Techlink presents Stories of Creativity. This website presents glimpses into the imagination, motivation and resourcefulness of wearable artists and the process they work through to design and construct their garment. The site includes a substantial teaching notes section, with a range of curriculum focused approaches and activities.

In the last decade, Apple has become one of the most successful companies in the world, in part by mastering global manufacturing. Apple and its high-technology peers have achieved a pace of innovation nearly unmatched in modern history. However, the workers assembling iPhones, iPads and other devices often labour in harsh conditions. Problems are as varied as onerous work environments and serious - sometimes deadly - safety problems.
