Following the delivery of each unit, commentary on the process and the outcomes will be added. Questions addressed in the commentary will include:
- Was there any significance in the timing of the delivery of the unit?
- Give a brief outline of the experience and areas of expertise of those involved in the delivery and their classes.
- Describe any particular preparation required prior to delivery
- Was it taught as planned or modified prior to delivery? Were any further modifications made as the delivery proceeded? Explain why the changes were made and any effect they had on the outcomes.
- Describe any unexpected problems / difficulties which arose during the unit. How were they handled and what, if any, influence did they have on the outcomes?
- How successfully were the intended outcomes met? Were there any unexpected outcomes?
- What aspects of the planning worked particularly well? Not so well? Why?
- What aspects of the unit did the students find particularly enjoyable? What aspects did they find particularly challenging? Why do you think this was?
- What changes would you make to the unit plan if you were to teach the unit again? Why?
- Looking at the integrated nature of the unit:
- How effective was the integration in influencing student learning?
- How effective was it in influencing student enjoyment?
- Why would you encourage other teachers at this level to develop and deliver integrated units of learning?
- Given your experience in the planning and delivery of this unit are there any pointers you would give or potential 'traps' you would alert them to?
- Focusing on student learning:
- How important was the chosen context to the leaning involved?
- How well do you feel students could transfer their learning in this context to another context?
- How do you think you could enhance that transfer to another context?
- Next learning – What could be the focus for the students next learning experience?
