Technological Literacy

Technological literacy is the understanding of, and facility with, the physical and theoretical 'languages' of technology.

Technological literacy is the basic aim of Technology in The New Zealand Curriculum (2007), as delivered through the three strands – Technological Practice, Nature of Technology and Technological Knowledge. These three knowledge types – 'know how', 'know why' and 'know that' – combine to provide students with all knowledge types seen as important in developing a sophisticated technological literacy.
