Ashleigh Share
Flavoured sugar
Year 13 Food Technology
In 2009 Ashleigh Share was awarded a New Zealand Scholarship in Technology for her work on the project 'Flavoured Sugar'.
Flavoured sugar is a Technology unit that focussed on the development of a food product that meets the requirements of her client who worked for Chelsea Sugar. Ashleigh's issue was to develop a flavoured sugar that was inexpensive but perceived to be as an indulgent treat. In undertaking her Technological Practice, Ashleigh consulted a practising technologist to inform her own practice.
In Ashleigh's reflective video report and supporting portfolio evidence, she demonstrated synthesis and integration of technological experiences in bringing together knowledge, skills, ideas and methods to allow the outcome to be realised. There is evidence of many experiments that informed her practice and allowed her to produce a Technological Outcome that was justified as 'fit for purpose'.
Ashleigh has explained how the complexities of hydration and crystalisation were identified. She has reflected on the information, understandings and practices of others, and demonstrated how she has used this to inform her own practice when developing a Technological Outcome for her client.
