At the beginning of Term 2, 2006, the Primary School had a teacher-only planning day. Beacon Practice teachers from the Senior School introduced the junior school teachers to Technological Practice and shared some of their teaching units and examples of student work.
Primary Coordinator Nicky Dunlop says the day was an eye-opener in that it showed how Technological Practice was a process and how this process was structured. Teachers at the Primary School saw what was being achieved in the senior school. Nicky says seeing student work was valuable, particularly in that they saw the range of results being achieved by students. "Not just the best."
The day opened up a range of possibilities for the junior school, and the teachers decided to have a term-long focus on technology in the third term, involving the whole junior school.
